Game Preview: Washington Wizards vs Brooklyn Nets
The Wizards head north to Brooklyn on Saturday, Feb. 4. Washington’s six game win streak was snapped on Friday night as they blew a 20-point home lead to Portland. The Nets are in disarray after Kyrie Irving shocked the league by requesting a trade Friday afternoon. These two teams will tip off at 6 P.M. EST.
Wizards’ win streak snapped
Washington is 24-27 overall this season. They are currently in ninth place in the Eastern Conference. The Wizards are 12 games out of first place in the conference and they are four games out of a spot in the playoffs.
The Wizards six game win streak was snapped on Friday, Feb. 3. They lost to Portland 124-116 at home. Washington blew a 20 point second half lead to lose to the Trail Blazers. Washington shot 50% from the field and 36.4% from behind the 3-point line. 11 turnovers from the Wizards really hurt the squad as they looked for their seventh straight win.
Bradley Beal finished with 34 points on 14-for-25 shooting. Kristaps Porzingis added 32 points on 9-for-15 shooting. Beal and Porzingis lead the Wizards in scoring. They both average 22 points per game.
The Wizards only player on the injury is Anthony Gill. He is out due to Covid-19 precautions.

Brooklyn’s Irving requests trade

They are five games out of first place and they hold a four game cushion on the play-in games. The big news out of the Nets’ camp came Friday afternoon when star guard Kyrie Irving requested a trade.
Long-term contract extension between the Nets and Irving have halted. In response, Irving has request a trade ahead of Thursday’s deadline. Irving will become a free agent this summer. Irving is listed as available for Saturday’s game against the Wizards. It is unclear if he will play though.
The Nets have lost three of their last five games as Boston defeated them by 43 points on Wednesday, Feb. 1. Irving led the team with 20 points as Kevin Durant is still out with an injury. Brooklyn shot just 23.1% from behind the 3-point line in the loss.
The Nets will be without Kevin Durant, Ben Simmons and T.J. Warren for Saturday’s game.
