Game Preview: Jazz vs Knicks

The Utah Jazz head to New York to play the Knicks on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET. Utah is set to play in Toronto on Friday before heading to New York. The Knicks, meanwhile, are in Philadelphia on Friday to play the 76ers as they too are on a back-to-back.

Jazz Outside Play-In Spot
Utah is set to play on a back-to-back and before the game against Toronto, the Jazz suffered a 143-118 blowout loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. In the loss, Utah trailed by two points after the first quarter but fell apart after the second and third quarters as the Jazz trailed 117-88 after the third. In the game, Utah was led by Collin Sexton had 22 points, Lauri Markkanen had 21 points, Walker Kessler had 16 points, Kelly Olynyk had 14 and off the bench, Talen Horton-Tucker had 15 points.

The Jazz is currently 27-29 and in 11th place in the West which is outside the play-in as Utah is a half-game back of the Portland Trail Blazers. At the deadline, the Jazz traded Mike Conley and Jarred Vanderbilt as Utah acquired Russell Westbrook – who they expect to buyout and a first-round pick as Utah is focused on the draft. This season, the Jazz are averaging 117.5 PPG which ranks fourth while allowing 117.1 PPG which ranks 24th.

Utah will be without Micah Potter while Toscano-Anderson and Damian Jones’ status is uncertain after they were acquired by the Jazz at the deadline.

Knicks Add Josh Hart
New York made one big trade at the deadline as the Knicks acquired Josh Hart at the deadline. The Knicks are currently 30-26 and in seventh place in the East which is a play-in spot while New York is a half-game back of Miami for the sixth spot. The Knicks are averaging 114.2 PPG while allowing 112.4 PPG and shooting 45.9% from the field which ranks 25th while allowing 34.4% from three which ranks 23rd.

In the Knicks’ last game before the back-to-back, New York edged out a 102-98 win over the Orlando Magic in a game the Knicks rallied in the fourth quarter outscoring Orlando 36-29 to get the win. In the win, New York was led by Jalen Brunson who had 25 points, Julius Randle had 22 points and 14 rebounds, RJ Barrett had 15 points, and off the bench, Immanuel Quickley had 18 points.

New York will be without Mitchell Robinson while Hart’s status is uncertain.
