Pacers in the middle of four-game road trip
Indiana turned heads early in the season when it went 23-18 to open the campaign, but it went ice-cold after that, which was correlated with star guard Tyrese Haliburton going down with an injury. The Pacers lost 16 of their next 18 games, with their two wins during that stretch coming against Chicago and Sacramento. They have won three of their four games since then to get back on track, including a pair of road wins at Orlando and Dallas to open this four-game road trip. Indiana’s lone loss since the All-Star break came in overtime against Boston last Thursday.

The Pacers will wrap up their four-game road trip at Chicago on Sunday afternoon. They are No. 12 in the Eastern Conference standings, sitting two games back of Washington for the final spot in the play-in tournament. Haliburton, who scored 32 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out six assists on Tuesday, is listed as a game-time decision due to a calf injury. He leads an Indiana offense that ranks No. 11, averaging 115.1 points per game. Haliburton is averaging 20.1 points, while Myles Turner is scoring 18.2 points and Buddy Hield is chipping in 17.3 points. They are facing a San Antonio defense that is dead-last in the NBA, allowing 122.4 points per game.

Spurs coming off first win since Jan. 17
San Antonio won five of its first seven games this season, but it has been an unmitigated disaster since then. The Spurs picked up a win over Brooklyn on Jan. 17 before losing 16 consecutive games after that. They finally snapped the 16-game losing streak with a 102-94 win over Utah on Tuesday, giving them their first road win since mid-December. Keldon Johnson poured in 25 points, while Doug McDermott added 19 and Jeremy Sochan had 13. Johnson scored four points in the final minute to seal the win on Tuesday, upping his season average to 21.8 points this season.

The Spurs beat Indiana 137-134 in the second game of the season on Oct. 21, never trailing in that contest. They held the Jazz to a season-low 35.3% from the floor on Tuesday, winning for the first time this season after trailing to start the fourth quarter. Rookie guard Blake Wesley is averaging 7.3 points on 7 of 17 shooting over his last three games, making his case for more playing time. Point guard Tre Jones (foot), shooting guard Devin Vassell (knee) and shooting guard Romeo Langford (thigh) are all listed as game-time decisions for this game. San Antonio ranks No. 25 in the NBA in scoring (112.2) and is facing an Indiana defense that is No. 23 (117.5).
