Cavs Start Road Trip vs Thunder with Injury Update
The Cleveland Cavaliers will start their first lengthy road trip of the season on Wednesday as they take on the Oklahoma City Thunder for the second and final time of the regular season.
They’ll begin this road trip slightly shorthanded as the team still looks to get back to full strength. This is who will not be playing against the Thunder.
Isaac Okoro had been one of Cleveland’s most reliable players through the first five games of the season largely due to the number of players already on the injured list. Now, Okoro is dealing with an injury himself.
He missed Sunday evening’s game against the Golden State Warriors with what the injury report called “left knee soreness.” Now we know Okoro will also be out for the first game of Cleveland’s road trip.
There isn’t a time frame yet for when we could see the slasher back on the floor.
Ty Jerome played in the first two games of the season then quickly found himself on the injury list with a right ankle sprain. He’s missed the last five games with this injury and has already been ruled out against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night as well.
Cleveland’s three-point specialist Sam Merrill is another Cavalier who will not be playing against OKC. He’s been ruled out with an illness.
Other Inaactives: Emoni Bates and Isaiah Mobley aren’t dealing with an injury, but they won’t be playing against the Thunder either. Each player is on an assignment with the G-League Cleveland Charge as they’re still on two-way contracts.
This could be a significant hit to Cleveland’s depth considering the other players who won’t be available.
