Game Preview : Milwaukee Bucks vs Toronto Raptors
The Bucks are just 6-4 through 10 games. I think they were looking for more than that from this group but the fact is that incoming star guard Damian Lillard has not played well and has missed a few games. They think he upgrades their chances of winning in the playoffs but that feels a long way off right now. In a surprising loss to Toronto to start the month, he was not much of a factor. Toronto might have needed way too much late to beat Washington on Monday but this has proven to be a scrappy team. They overcame a 23 point second half deficit in the win. That gives them some momentum and so will the fact that they have already beaten Milwaukee once this season. Forward OG Anunoby did not play against Washington and his status is critical in guardian Giannis. Pascal Siakam had his best game of the season against the Wizards, a very encouraging sign for Toronto.
The Bucks are just 1-3 SU on the road and have not covered once away from home this season. Those numbers are jarring given their personnel and expectations. The question is whether it sets up a buying opportunity with the visitors. This is still a team that has the ability to overwhelm with their offensive talent, we just haven’t seen it as much as expected. Maybe the new coach is in over his head? Nevertheless, when these teams met to start the month Milwaukee was -4 and now they are less than that. There should probably be more of a correction, but either way I don’t like Toronto to stymie their stars again. The Bucks get some revenge.
