Game Preview: Sacramento Kings vs San Antonio Spurs

The Kings play without rest

Wednesday’s games have been excluded from the analysis, and the Sacramento Kings visited the Los Angeles Lakers. The Kings have only won one of their previous four contests and were coming off Monday’s 113-109 home loss against the Chicago Bulls.

Sacramento managed to blow a 22-point second-half lead against Chicago. The Kings were outscored 36-18 in the fourth quarter. They finished the game with a 29.7 3-point percentage (11-for-37) and a 29/18 assist-to-turnover ratio. De’Aaron Fox had 20 points and ten assists, while Domantas Sabonis posted a double-double of 18 points and 21 rebounds.

The Kings were seventh in the Western Conference on Wednesday morning, one game behind the No. 6 seed. Sacramento was 14th in adjusted offensive efficiency (117.3) and 21st in adjusted defensive efficiency (117.1).

The Spurs continue a three-game road trip

The San Antonio Spurs are coming off Tuesday’s 114-101 defeat at the Houston Rockets. The Spurs had a chance to string the third win for the first time this season but couldn’t cope with Alperen Sengun, who scored a career-high 45 points.

San Antonio went just 12-for-36 from downtown against Houston. Devin Vassell led the way for the Spurs with 22 points and eight rebounds, and Malaki Branham accounted for 20 points off the bench. Victor Wembanyama posted a line of ten points, 11 rebounds, three assists, seven blocks, and six turnovers.

The Spurs are still sitting bottom of the Western Conference. They rank 27th in the league in adjusted offensive efficiency (110.1 points per 100 possessions) and 23rd in adjusted defensive efficiency (118.0). Wembanyama has been playing very well of late, averaging 22.8 points, 10.9 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and a whopping 5.1 blocks through his last ten games.
