The Orlando Magic are on the road as they make the trip up the eastern seaboard to face the Cleveland Cavaliers Friday night.

Orlando was dumped 125-108 at home by Atlanta Wednesday night in their most recent contest, failing to cover as a 6.5-point underdog. Cleveland steamrolled Philadelphia 113-85 at home Wednesday night in their previous game, easily covering the line as a 3.5-point favorite. In the all-time regular season series between the teams, the Cavaliers own a 60-59 advantage, including a 103-92 home victory in the first matchup this season back on October 26.

Orlando suffered their sixth straight loss and their eighth in the last nine games as they were dumped by Atlanta at home Wednesday night. The Magic dropped to 5-17 on the season and sit in the basement of the Southeast Division, seven games behind the Hawks for the top spot. Against Atlanta, Orlando was outscored 18-10 over the final 4:33 of the opening quarter to turn a three-point deficit into an 11-point margin. The Magic trailed by 20 at the half and never got closer than 15 the rest of the way as they ended up with the loss. Orlando shot 49.4% from the field, including eight of 27 from three-point range, and allowed Atlanta to shoot 54.3% in the game. Franz Wagner led the Magic with 22 points and six rebounds in the loss.


The Magic enter this game 28th in the league in scoring offense as they average 108.3 points per game on the season. Orlando is 21st in the league in rebounding with 42.8 rebounds per contest while they are 30th in assists by dishing 21.2 dimes a night. Cole Anthony contributes 14.6 points, 4.6 rebounds plus 3.8 assists a game, Terrence Ross adds nine points a night while Franz Wagner chips in 19.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and four dimes a contest. Wendell Carter Jr. (16.6 points, 9.1 rebounds), Jalen Suggs (12.4 points, 5.4 assists) and Bol Bol (13.1 points, 7.8 rebounds) are solid contributors. Gary Harris (10.3 points), Caleb Houstan, Chuma Okeke, Mo Bamba, R.J. Hampton and Kevon Harris all have to contribute for the Magic. Jonathan Isaac (hamstring) remains out with no timetable for return at this point. Carter Jr. (foot) has been out since November 18, while Okeke (ankle) hasn’t played since November 21. Both of those players are considered day-to-day. Suggs (ankle) has missed the last three games while Bamba (back) has missed two straight coming into this one. Cleveland won for the sixth time in eight games as they routed Philadelphia at home Wednesday night. The Cavaliers improved to 14-8 on the season and stand second in the Central Division, two games behind the Bucks for the top spot in the division. Against Philadelphia, Cleveland outscored Philadelphia 7-2 over the final 1:35 of the opening quarter to lead by four after 12 minutes of play. The Cavaliers broke the game open by shooting 16 of 17 from the floor in the second quarter, outscoring the 76ers 44-27 to take a 21-point advantage at the half. Cleveland didn’t let Philadelphia closer than that in the second half while leading by as many as 33. The Cavaliers shot 60.8% from the field, including 15 of 29 from three-point range, and won the rebounding battle 40-30 to overcome 19 turnovers. Caris LeVert paced Cleveland with 22 points in the victory.

Cleveland is 12th in rebounding as they grab 43.7 boards per contest and stand 21st in assists by handing out 23.8 dimes a contest this year. The Cavaliers are 1st in the league in scoring defense as they allow an average of 106 points per game this season. Donovan Mitchell leads the way in the scoring department for Cleveland as he puts up 28.4 points plus 5.1 assists a night on the year. Cedi Osman (9.2 points), Evan Mobley (15 points, nine boards), Jarrett Allen (13.5 points, 10.8 rebounds) and Caris LeVert (11.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, 4.7 assists) each are solid secondary options. Kevin Love (10.6 points, 7.2 rebounds), Robin Lopez, Darius Garland (22.8 points, 8.1 assists), Dean Wade, Raul Neto, Isaiah Mobley and Isaac Okoro are other contributors in the Cavaliers’ rotation. Cleveland is 8th in the league in field goal percentage as they shoot 48% from the floor as a team on the year. The Cavaliers are 12th by knocking down an average of 12.1 three-pointers a night while they are 3rd by connecting on 38.5% of their attempts from beyond the arc.

Ricky Rubio (knee) continues to rehab after surgery and remains without a definitive timetable to return. Dylan Windler (ankle) is out until at least mid-to-late December as the injury-prone guard still is looking to make an impact at this level. Allen (back) has missed three straight games while Love (thumb) has missed five in a row and Lamar Stevens (illness) hasn’t played since November 23.
