Game Preview: Pelicans vs Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks head to New Orleans to take on the Pelicans at 7:30 p.m. ET. Atlanta is coming off a 128-108 loss to the Denver Nuggets. New Orleans, meanwhile, routed the Sacramento Kings on Sunday winning 136-104.

Atlanta is currently 27-27 and in eighth in the East while being 5-5 in their last 10 and on a one-game losing skid and being 14-16 on the road. The Hawks are averaging 116.3 PPG which ranks eighth while allowing 116.5 PPG which ranks 22nd and shooting 47.9% from the field and 34.8% from three. Atlanta has been led by Trae Young who’s averaging 27 PPG, Dejounte Murray is averaging 21.2 PPG, De’Andre Hunter is averaging 16 PPG, Bogdan Bogdanovic is chipping in with 15 PPG, John Collins is averaging 13.2 PPG and Clint Capela is averaging a double-double with 12 PPG and 11.5 rebounds.

In the Hawks’ last game against the Nuggets, Atlanta trailed 70-52 at the half and did close the gap in the third quarter outscoring Denver 34-27 before being outscored 31-22 in the fourth quarter to lose the game. In the loss, the Hawks were led by Murray who had 28 points and 10 assists, Capela also had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Hunter had 20 points, and AJ Griffin had 15 points. Off the bench, Jalen Johnson chipped in with 11 points.

Atlanta lists Trae Young as day-to-day.

Pelicans Win Two In A Row After Losing 10 Straight
New Orleans has struggled without Zion Williamson as the Pelicans lost 10 straight games but New Orleans has since won two straight games. In the Pelicans’ blowout win over the Kings, New Orleans was led by 30 points, CJ McCollum had 24 points, Naji Marshall had 17 points, and Larry Nance Jr. had 10 points and 9 rebounds. Off the bench, Willy Hernangomez had a double-double with 22 points and 16 rebounds while Kira Lewis Jr. had 11 points.

The Pelicans are currently 28-27 and are now in ninth place in the West after spending several weeks near the top of the conference. New Orleans is 2-8 in their last 10 while being 19-9 at home and averaging 115.5 PPG which ranks 10th while allowing 113.7 PPG and shooting 48% from the field and 35.7% from three. This season, the Pelicans have been led by Williamson who’s averaging 26 PPG, McCollum is averaging 21.3 PPG, Brandon Ingram is averaging 21.2 PPG, Jonas Valanciunas is chipping in with 14.6 PPG, and Marshall is averaging 10.1 PPG.

New Orleans will be without Williamson, Dyson Daniels, and EJ Liddell while Valanciunas and Ingram are listed as day-to-day.
