Game Prediction: Miami Heat vs Philadelphia 76ers

The Miami Heat head to Philadelphia to play the 76ers on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. ET. Miami is coming off a 118-105 road win over the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday. Philadelphia, meanwhile, picked up a 103-101 win over the Boston Celtics on Tuesday.

Heat Chasing 6th Seed
Miami only has three games left in the season and the Heat are in a close race with the Brooklyn Nets for the sixth seed and to avoid the play-in game, and are two games on Atlanta for the seventh seed. Miami is currently 42-37 and one game back of Brooklyn while the Heat are 16-23 on the road and are averaging 109.1 PPG which ranks 30th while allowing 109.8 PPG which is second in the league. Miami has been led by Jimmy Butler who’s averaging 22.9 PPG, Bam Adebayo is averaging 20.7 PPG, and Tyler Herro is averaging 20.3 PPG.

In the Heat’s win over Detroit on Tuesday, Miami got out to a 59-52 lead at the half but let off the gas in the third quarter as the Pistons outscored them 27-21 to trial by a point but the Heat took control in the fourth to get a crucial win. In the win, Miami was led by Butler who had 27 points, Gabe Vincent had 22, Herro and Adebayo both had 18 and off the bench for the Heat, Kyle Lowry had 11 points.

Miami will be without Nikola Jovic.

76ers All But Locked In To 3rd Seed
Philadelphia gave themselves a slight chance at catching Boston to becoming the second seed but they are two games back and are all but locked into the third seed. In the win over the Celtics on Tuesday, the 76ers led 53-46 at the half and although they were outscored in both the third and fourth quarters, they were able to hold on to get the win. In the win, Philadelphia was led by Joel Embiid who dropped 52 points and 13 rebounds, James Harden had a double-double with 20 points and 10 assists, and PJ Tucker had 11 as the only three players to score double-digit points.

The 76ers are currently 52-27 and are two games back of Boston for the second seed and 2.5 games up on Cleveland who hold the fourth seed. Philadelphia is averaging 114.9 PPG which ranks 14th while allowing just 110.5 PPG which ranks third. This season, the 76ers have been led by Embiid who’s averaging 33.3 PPG and 10.2 rebounds, Harden is averaging 21.1 PPG and 10.8 assists, Tyrese Maxey is averaging 20.3 PPG, and Tobias Harris is averaging 14.7 PPG.

Philadelphia has no one on the injury report.
