TNT beats Ginebra,ties series 2-2
Hot shooting TNT Tropang GIGA defeated the crowd-favorite Barangay Ginebra, 116-104 in Game 4 of their best-of-7 final series in the 2023 PBA Governors’ Cup on Sunday, April 16 in front of 16,203-crowd at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.
PBA Governors’ Cup 2023 Best Import of the Conference, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, led the Tropang Giga with a double-double performance of 36 points (13/21fg, 3/6 3pts, 7/7ft) along with ten rebounds, five assists and three steals. Jayson Castro had a solid game, scoring 17 points (6/9fg, 4/6 3pts, 1/2ft) while grabbing two rebounds, dishing out two assists, two steals, and blocking a shot.
Calvin Oftana finished with 16 points (4/6 3pts), two rebounds, two assists and a steal. Kib Montalbo had 16 points (4/8 3pts), five rebounds, two assists and one steal while Mikey Williams contributed 16 points (4/8 3pts), one rebound and three assists. Unfortunately, RR Pogoy was ruled out for the remainder of the series due to a fractured finger.
TNT shot 42-of-82 from the field, including new PBA finals record 21 threes (21/43 3pts) while Ginebra shot 38-of-70 from the field and 15-of-30 from beyond the arc. TNT went 11-of-13 from the free throw line, while Ginebra went 13-of-23. The Tropang Giga had 10 turnovers, while the GinKings had 14, and TNT had more steals, 9-3.
