Precious Paula Nicole, from ‘drag to riches’
I have always been a fag hag, so I immensely enjoyed watching “Drag Race Philippines” (DRP) on HBO Go. I can hardly wait for Season 2. What a stiff competition it was.
The 12 contestants put in a lot of blood, sweat and tears [not to mention makeup and wigs]. They were all-in and all-out. Their performances were buwis-buhay, as we say in show biz parlance.
Precious Paula Nicole (Queen P) was the fiercest of them all. She was crowned the Philippines’ first-ever Drag Race Superstar. Sashay, Queen P. The world is your runway. Your “drag to riches” story is truly awe-inspiring.
Here’s my chat with Queen P:
It gave me so much confidence and power to continue what I’ve started, especially with my advocacy. It really feels like a reward after 12 years of doing drag.
Thank you for embracing us. Hindi namin sasayangin ang oras, atensyon, suporta at pagmamahal na binibigay n’yo. And yes, we’re here to stay to inspire all of you.
Deserve! We have been working really hard for this for many years, and it’s about time for it to get the recognition and proper platform it deserves.
More inspiring queens with a heart. The future of drag is very promising now that there are several opportunities opening up for us.
What would you tell young people who are still discovering their true identity? Just listen to your heart and always enjoy life’s journey because time moves so quickly. So, savor every moment. Don’t rush.
It’s not going to be easy. Drag is a never-ending learning journey, so you have to be prepared, know who you are, and follow your heart.
I’m single and I am very focused on reaching my goals and dreams. My heart is happy and full of love because of my supporters—Precious Loves, Team Precious, and other supporters I have yet to meet. Love can wait.
